Welcome! My name is Meg Cook. I write for kids and young adults and, occasionally, regular adults. I earned my MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults from Vermont College of Fine Arts in 2017. I have been published in the Blue River Review and my young adult short story, “Laps”, was an honorary mention for the Katherine Paterson Prize in 2018.
My writing is heavily inspired by folkloric tradition, fairy tales and other fantastical elements as well as animals and nature. In my free time, you can usually find me working on my tarot spreads, fostering rambunctious kittens, hiking by the ocean or obsessing over baby goats.
I also have a background in animal care and rescue work including dog walking, kitten rescue, TNR (trap-neuter-return), and working for my local Humane Society. I have also lived and work on small Nigerian Dwarf Goat farm.
I currently call Providence, Rhode Island my home and live there with my husband and cat.
